OCMC Symposium Update (Email 1)

Hi,

Thank you for registering for the 2012 Symposium. We are excited to have you join us. I will be sending you the Symposium Program later this week so you can begin looking at the workshops we will be offering.

When you check in, you will be asked to fill out your membership information (if you haven't already) and your registration fee will be collected (if you haven't already mailed it to Connie Wadsley, OCMC Treasurer). If you would like to fill out the membership form online rather than filling it out on Monday evening, please feel free to visit http://www.ocmathcouncil.com/Membership.html .

The Symposium will be at National University's Costa Mesa Campus: 3390 Harbor Blvd, Costa Mesa.
Check in and a light dinner will begin at 4:30pm and the Keynote Presentation by Dr. Mark Ellis will begin at 5:00.

Common Core Standards Keynote Speaker
Mark Ellis, Ph.D, NBCT
Associate Professor and Chair, Secondary Education CSU Fullerton
The mathematics classroom envisioned by the Common Core "Standards for Mathematical Practice" is not at all common in today's schools. What do these standards mean for our work as teachers of mathematics? Participants will engage in thinking about their own practice through math problems, discussion, video and reflection.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send an email to info@ocmathcouncil.com.

Thanks and see you Monday night!
