Schools can register a team for Math Field Day electronically on the School Registration page. All teams must be registered by March 19, 2012.
How many team members can each school have?
A school can have only one 4-member team per grade level. All team member names for each grade level must be submitted electronically on the 2012 Team Information page by April 6, 2012 to guarantee inclusion in the Math Field Day program.
Can each team have alternates?

While each team can have as many alternates as they would like, no alternates may participate in any Math Field Day events, including the Rubik's Cube Challenge. However, they are welcome to support their team/school at Rubik's Challenge and Awards Ceremony.
How does a school select its team(s)?
Each school is unique. There are multiple ways to select a team and there is no one right way. For suggestions, email mathfieldday@ocmathcouncil.com.
What are some tips for preparation?
During the individual competitions, teams may not separate the stapled test packets.
All scratch work must be done on the competition papers.
No scratch work can be done on the mental math answer sheet.
Train students to work as a team, not individually, then combining their papers.
What is the role of the proctor?
Proctors administer and oversee the various contests to ensure a fair competition, and verify that all teams follow the same rules. There will be two proctors per contest room, neither of whom will be affiliated with any participating teams within that room. Proctors will report any contest irregularities to the Math Field Day Competition Committee.
How many cubes are needed for the Rubik's Cube challenge?
Each team (8 members) needs 11 cubes. Teams must bring their own cubes for the competition. Cube must not have any markings on them. See Rubik's Cube Competition Guide.
Where can I order Rubik's Cubes for my team? Rubik's Cube Solution Kits can be ordered (at a special OCMC discounted rate) so your team can practice and prepare for the challenge. To order a Solution Kit and/or the "How To Solve the Rubik's Cube" curriculum, download the order form.
What time do teams need to arrive on Saturday (competition day)?
Team check-in, team photos, and poster check-in begins at 7:30am. All team members should be at the school site no later than 8am to guarantee enough time for photos and assembly.
How long is lunch? Is lunch provided?
Lunch is 30 minutes if a team is participating in the afternoon Rubik's Cube Challenge and 1 hour 15 min if a team is not participating. Lunch is provided by each team individually.
What should the teams wear?
Most teams have matching t-shirts with their school name, however, any appropriate school dress code attire is acceptable.
What is the theme for 2012?
The 2012 theme will be posted on this website once the theme has been determined. All theme submission must be received by March 5, 2012 by noon. The selected theme will be announced on March 8, 2012. Click Here to submit your theme suggestions.
